“I’ve always liked songs that tell stories that touch people. It’s great when someone comes backstage after a show to tell you how a song you played connected to them…..

Jim released his second CD in 2012 entitled “Looking Back”  a collection of songs co-written with John Buckley and Tammi Henke.

A new CD is currently being recorded and will be released in the spring of 2019

…..Often injecting a healthy dose of humour into his lyricism, Peace keeps his songwriting on the lighter side, as evident in the song “The Three of Them,” which tells the tale of a barmaid, a prostitute and an old man and his dog, and the ironies in how their lives turned out another song, “Barroom Ballet,” is a humorous observation of the curious case of single men dancing foolishly, in hopes of gaining female companionship for the evening .”Most of them tend to be third-party experiences,” explained Peace of his writing style. “It’s part of the oral tradition of folk and western music — passing on the stories”…..Influenced by the craftsmen of the singer-songwriter tradition — writers like Tom Russell, Gordon Lightfoot and Ian Tyson, among many others — I spend as much time as I can on a horse and in the mountains — without a doubt, it’s the inspiration for a lot of my music. And when you hang around horses and mountains, eventually you get wrecks and you get a lot of stories,” chuckled the music man.

….For Cochrane-based singer-songwriter Jim Peace there is no better way to share the western traditions of his life than through songwriting. Made up of one part cowboy values, another wilderness lover and the rest musician, Peace is a regular performer around Cochrane, both as a solo acoustic artist and as a hired hand on the lead guitar

Jim tours and performs concerts both as a solo act and with a 5 piece band. For years Jim has been playing guitar as a sideman for many acts at festivals, Cowboy Gatherings and in recording studios across Western Canada.

“I’ve always liked songs that tell stories that touch people. It’s great when someone comes backstage after a show to tell you how a song you played connected to them. I was at a Cowboy Gathering in Pincher Creek and an older fella came up and told me the story about how he had met Tom Three Persons, the person in the song Cyclone, as a young boy when Tom sold horses to his father. Well, this CD Circle Rider, like the title says really represents the going full circle in my life’s musical journey from Folk and Traditional music to Country and back to my true love, Canadiana Cowboy Music”.
